A Dundee man who spat on a pharmacist in a “despicable and reprehensible” assault has been jailed for eight months.
Christopher Traynor, 35, spat at the woman after she asked him to leave following an earlier incident.
Depute fiscal Kirsten Thomson told Dundee Sheriff Court that Traynor had entered the pharmacy at 9.10am and was told the needle exchange did not open until 9.30am.
Miss Thomson said: “He was unhappy and said he would make a complaint.
“He returned at 9.35am and was told he would not be served because of his previous behaviour.
“He shouted at the pharmacist and she moved away. She asked him to leave and he leaned over and spat in her direction.
“She managed to close her eyes but was hit on the side of her head, on her hair and on the body.
“Staff, who were disgusted and shocked by this, contacted the police.”
Traynor, of Soapwork Lane, admitted assaulting the woman by spitting on her head and body at Boots, Albert Street on November 29.
Jim Laverty, defending, said: “This is reprehensible behaviour, this is despicable behaviour and he asks me to offer no mitigation.
“This is a mirror in which he has to look at himself and he is disgusted with himself in this matter.”
