A former Royal Marine may be ordered to pay hundreds of pounds in compensation after his dog ran amok in a chicken coop, killing more than 20 birds. Forfar Sheriff Court heard how Edward Bennison’s Siberian husky dug its way under a fence before breaking into the run at Craichie. Several rare cockerels were among the birds killed. “I have at present 12 dogs in my care… I did not know this one was an escape artist,” Bennison told the court. Deferring sentence until next month, Sheriff Simon Collins said: “Your actions caused £820 damage. Justice requires reparations to the damage.” For more on this story see The Courier or try our digital edition.
