Dunfermline fans will no doubt be keen to forget Airdrie’s last visit to East End Park and it was a game Jordan Moore would prefer to consign to the back of his mind as well.
The striker was nearing the end of a disappointing loan spell with the Diamonds when he was hooked after an hour of his team’s eventual 2-1 win on the final day of the season.
It was a result which turned out to be enough to send the Pars in to the relegation zone, and history tells us the Fife side ultimately failed to beat the drop via the play-offs.
Fast forward a few months though and Moore has found himself back at East End Park on a more regular basis this season, where he is focused on helping his new club try to right some of the last season’s wrongs.
He recalled: “I didn’t play that well the day we played Dunfermline, so I don’t think many people would have noticed me!
“To be honest, I didn’t perform too well when I was at Airdrie so I’m looking forward to Saturday and showing them what I can do.
“I scored on my debut when I was there, which was great, but I only scored one more goal after that and didn’t play too much.
“We actually didn’t win until we beat Dunfermline in the last game of the season, so it was about 10 games in before we managed to win a game.
“But I’m delighted to be playing at Dunfermline this season and we’ve started the season really well. We’re still sitting second in the league so we can’t complain about that.
“From a personal point of view, I’ve scored three goals in the last four games, so hopefully it will be a case of getting as many goals as possible against Airdrie.”
The 19-year-old hitman is determined to add to his tally while on loan with the Pars and is seeking to impress not only Pars boss Jim Jefferies but Dundee United manager Jackie McNamara, who continues to monitor Moore’s progress.
“Jackie has been really good to me, he’s a really nice guy and he’s a great coach,” he continued.
“Everybody really respects him a lot and I think United will come good and start picking up more wins.
“I still go in training with United on a Wednesday if we have a day off here, so Jackie knows everything that goes on.”
Despite his close ties to United, the teenager remains committed to the Pars at present and hopes fans will come out in their droves to support the cash-strapped club in the next two home fixtures against Airdrieonians and Ayr.
“The crowd have been brilliant anyway and there are always a lot of fans, but it would be brilliant if even more came out,” he said.
Boss Jefferies, who has a full squad to choose from, knows just how dangerous the Diamonds can be.
“Airdrie were in our division last year and always caused us problems,” he noted.
“I thought they would be right up there challenging this season and there’s still time you never look at the league until you’ve played the first 10, 11 games anyway.”
