Rolling in the Deep piano found dumped in Tay

The piano was found in the river at Aberfeldy.
The piano was found in the river at Aberfeldy.

A mysterious musician went Down to the River to Play and left their instrument behind.

Now officers from Police Scotland are hunting the River Man or woman who dumped a piano in the water near Aberfeldy.

Fortunately, the discovery didn’t Dam That River but it has given fish the chance to practise their scales.

Despite being given the ideal opportunity to give a timely rendition of Handel’s Water Music, PC Ronnie Deuchar told TheCourier he and his colleagues politely declined.

“We just took a step back and said we would get the council to get it out,” he said.“There’s someone out there with wet feet, however, as it’s a good bit in the water.”

The instrument was discovered onSunday by people walking along the riverside path and at first officers believed it was a prank by a visiting stag party.

Upon further investigation, however, they found an old and battered piano in themiddle of the River Tay, looking worse for wear.

PC Deuchar added: “There was no sign of any budding Elton John, so it’s clearly just been dumped.

“You could get a vehicle as close as 10 yards from the water, so someone has clearly reversed downthere.

“It’s a bit stupid to dump something in the water when they could have just taken it to the skip.”

Although the fly-tipping incident has made a splash in Aberfeldy, it has failed to hit the right note withofficers and anyone who saw the Sinner in the Sea, or river to be more precise, is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 with any information.

Sadly, it is the River of No Return for the piano, as it will now be consigned to the music hall in the sky once it is recovered by the local authority.Play me a tunaHere are just a few songs that could have been played on the stricken piano:Take Me to the River Talking Heads River Deep, Mountain High Ike and Tina Turner Moon River Henry Mancini Told My Troubles to the River Tom McRae The River Bruce Springsteen Rivers of Babylon Boney M Rolling in the Deep Adele Cry Me a River Justin Timberlake Many Rivers to Cross Jimmy Cliff
