Victory over Hamilton could open a door that leads to the top of the league for Raith Rovers.
The big matches are coming thick and fast for Rovers, and player-boss Grant Murray is aiming for three points at New Douglas Park.
If they can beat the Championship’s early pacesetters, the Kirkcaldy men will be just two points behind Accies with a game in hand.
Rovers reached their first cup final for almost two decades by beating Annan Athletic in last Sunday’s Ramsdens Cup semi-final at Stark’s Park.
Either Rangers or Stenhousemuir await in the final, which will not be played until next April.
That means Rovers can put that tournament to one side for now and focus on their league campaign.
They don’t come any bigger than a trip to Hamilton and the players certainly won’t have time to bask in the glory of their 3-0 win over Annan.
Murray said: “We know already that facing Hamilton is a tough game as they are the only team we have lost against in the league this season.
“They won 1-0 in a really tight game at our place and that was tough for us to take as we were just getting on top when they scored.
“We have dropped down to fourth place in the league as Dundee and Falkirk won in the league last weekend while we were in the Ramsdens Cup.
“But a win over Accies would make up for that and take us to within two points of them with a game in hand. That would be a great place to be at this stage of the season.”
Hamilton welcome back Stephen Hendrie from international duty.
Hendrie was with the successful Scotland U19 squad in Belarus over the past week and he is added to the squad that drew with Morton last week.
Andrew Ryan has departed for Brechin City on a one-month emergency temporary transfer.
