Lorraine Kelly hails Dundee to Stansted flight plan as ‘fantastic’

TV personality Lorraine Kelly OBE has spoken of her delight that a new London route is to operate out of Dundee Airport.

The 54-year-old congratulated Dundee Airport operator HIAL, Dundee City Council, Transport Scotland and the airline for bringing the move about.

“Well done to everybody who got that sorted so quickly,” she said.

“It’s generally really good news for the city. I’m glad the route has been saved because there’s so much going on in the city.”

While the timings of the new Loganair Dundee to Stansted flight are not as convenient for Ms Kelly as the old CityJet route to London City, the Daybreak presenter said that she will use the new service as often as she can.

“It’s fantastic,” she said. “It’s really good there’s going to be a route down to London.

“It’s going to be affordable, too, which is great,” she added.

“Because of my funny schedule, the timings aren’t as good for me but I will use it as often as I can.”

Single fares on the new flight will start at £74.99 and flights will operate twice a day on weekdays and on Sundays.

The flights, which start on March 30, are aimed at the business market.

CityJet is to cease its daily flights at the end of March as too few customers were willing to pay for its return fares, which could cost as much as £500.
