A Fife falconry is in a flap over a missing kestrel.
Five-year-old Ethan went missing from Stuart Milne Falconry in Thornton on Monday morning, prompting a region-wide search of the skies.
Although numerous sightings have already been reported, Ethan’s whereabouts remain unknown.
Maggie Milne from the falconry said: “One minute he was having a bath and the next minute he wasn’t there.
“I don’t know why he has gone but he could have been chased off by another bird. I hope he hasn’t gone too far.
“We had a sighting at Cameron Bridge yesterday and Stuart walked all the way there from Thornton and back.”
This is not the first time that Ethan has gone AWOL.
He has flown the nest once before, eventually being traced to the Promenade in Kirkcaldy.
However, finding Ethan is hugely important to the falconry, with Maggie describing him as “one of the family.”
“We’ve had him since he was a chick when I went down to Wales to get him,” she added.
“He’s such a friendly little guy and will even land on people’s heads, although he won’t hurt anyone.
“Stuart always trains him in parks so if he sees big spaces then he is likely to go there.
“He’ll just want to be fed.”
The owners have also shared advice on what people can do if they spot Ethan.
On their Facebook page they posted: “People are asking what to do if they spot Ethan. If you see a kestrel, whistle, put up a gloved or sleeved covered hand.
“He will come in to you, he will be hungry now if he hasn’t caught for himself.
“Call one of the numbers as soon as you can. Ethan can be put in a pet carrier or a cardboard box till we get to you.
“He is a very friendly little guy and will not hurt you.”
