Fife Flyers coach Todd Dutiaume has called on his men not to throw away all their good work when Manchester Storm visit in a crucial Elite League and Gardiner Conference fixture.
The Kirkcaldy club have won their last three games, gaining six crucial points in their bid to qualify for the end-of-season play-offs.
Fife are also top of their five-team Conference, and the clash against Manchester is the last chance the Scots have of taking points from the league new boys at Kirkcaldy this season.
Previously, the games have been tight with Fife winning the first encounter 5-4 on penalty shots, losing the second 3-1 and winning the most recent game 5-3.
Dutiaume’s troops have won 4-3 and lost 5-1 in Altrincham and still have two trips there before the end of the regular season.
Storm, said Dutiaume, have some quality despite their lowly position and possess players who can hurt teams.
Dutiaume, who has two injury concerns, Michael Dorr and Shayne Stockton, said: “We want to stay on top of the conference so Saturday is really important for us.
“We also want to keep in the top eight in the league and so this is play-off hockey time for us.”
Meanwhile, Canadian newcomer Travis Fullerton is almost certain to get the nod for Braehead Clan against Dundee Stars in Glasgow tonight (7pm).
Stars coach Marc Lefebvre has not seen Fullerton in action for Clan but knows what to expect from the rest of the squad.
There are few facts about how they play which can surprise the Canadian, who is desperate to win on Braehead ice this term after 6-4 and 2-1 (overtime) defeats.
Clan also hold a 4-2 victory over Stars at the Dundee Ice Arena but Lefebvre’s men also hold a 4-3 penalty shots victory over the Glasgow combine on Tayside.
Stars are second with 25 points from 18 games with Clan third with 19 points from 14 starts. Lefebvre said: “Braehead are a quality club but we know we can compete.”
Misfiring Edinburgh Capitals have added Latvian defenceman Nikita Kolesnikovs to the squad following the departure of defenceman Nate Fleming.
