A man has died and another man was seriously injured in car crashes at either end of Fife on Wednesday.

The fatal accident occurred on the A907 at Bogside, past Devilla, around 1.10pm. Police said two cars a Vauxhall Astra and a Ford Mondeo were involved in the accident.

The driver of the Mondeo, a 32-year-old man from Kirkcaldy, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police closed the road at the Gartarry Roundabout at the top of Kincardine Bridge as accident investigators attended.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “On the A907, three men who were the driver and passenger of a Vauxhall Astra, and the driver of a Ford Mondeo, were injured when their cars were involved in collision around 1.10pm near the north end of Devilla Forest. No further details are known at this time.”

Meanwhile, the 27-year old male driver of a Vauxhall Nova was airlifted to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee at 1.25pm after his vehicle was involved in a head-on collision with a Cherokee Jeep towing a horsebox near Cupar.

The jeep was being driven by an 80-year-old woman. It is believed she was not seriously injured.

The accident happened around 11.45am on the A916 Cupar to Leven road around 1.5 miles south of Craigrothie.

The male is thought to have sustained head and neck injuries and is in a serious condition.

The Police Scotland spokesman added: “An air ambulance was called to the Craigrothie accident, which happened around 11.45am and involved a collision between a Jeep Grand Cherokee towing a horse box and a Vauxhall Nova. The driver of the Nova was taken to Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, where his condition is being assessed.”

Police Scotland said both the A907 Gartarry Roundabout to Bogside road, near Kincardine, and the A916 Cupar to Leven road near Craigrothie, were closed as full accident investigations were carried out.
