Places for the 2014 Etape Caledonia have sold out nine times faster than this year’s event.
More than 5,000 spots were snapped up by eager cyclists in just eight hours, smashing last year’s record of 72 hours.
Those hoping to test their mettle on the Highland Perthshire sportive have a final chance to secure a space but only if they have the legs to take on a second challenge.
Organisers IMG Challenger World have unveiled a new package entry option, dubbed the Etape Doubl.
It gives participants a 15% discount if they enter the Etape Caledonia and Etape Pennines, which both raise money for the event’s charity partner, Marie Curie Cancer Care.
There are also a limited number of pledge spots available for cyclists willing to ride under the banner of the Daffodil Team.
Last year almost £500,000 was donated to Marie Curie Cancer Care by those taking part in the Etape series.
IMG Challenger World managing director James Robinson said: “We encourage all those who have missed out on a spot to consider Etape Pennines as an alternative challenge for 2014, or the Etape Doubl package.”
