East Fife manager Gary Naysmith has warned his players that they will be facing a fiercely determined Berwick Rangers side at Shielfield today.
The Fifers defeated Colin Cameron’s men 5-0 at the start of the season and enjoyed a 3-0 success over the border as last season drew to a close.
So Naysmith expects to meet a Berwick side out for revenge.
The former Scotland defender said: “Berwick will have been hurt by the defeat at our place and when you add that to the win late last season that is eight goals for and none against. Colin will be demanding that we do not get the better of them this time out.
“This league is so tight that one result can change how people look at your season. Berwick were getting stick at half-time in their last game at half time when they were losing to East Stirling. Then turned that around and won.
“If they win this game they would go above us and that shows you quickly things can change.”
Naysmith gave some first team regulars the day off when they defeated Cowdenbeath 1-0 in a Fife Cup tie last weekend however they will be back for this game.
Allan Walker is unavailable, Craig Sutherland looks set to leave after not featuring recently and Stevie Campbell remains out with an ankle injury. Recent recruit Kieran MacDonald could make his first start.
Naysmith said: “It is not ideal when you do not have the full complement of substitutes but we will just get on with things. Kieran did well against Cowdenbeath and his versatility gives me a lot of options for Berwick.”
