Great British Bake Off star Flora Shedden has had to be smuggled out of pubs after being swamped by fans in St Andrews. The 19-year-old, who began reading art history at the university, has struggled to cope with her fame since arriving in the seaside town. Flora is among the favourites to win the BBC cookery competition and her bakes and blog have earned her a legion of fans. But Hugh Green, who owns Frames Gallery in Perth, where the teenager worked before heading off to study, says her fame has caused her problems. “Flora was in the pub in St Andrews last week with friends, and her flatmate threw her coat over Flora’s head and smuggled her out. “She’s a real, proper celebrity.”
