Dundee’s Nicky Low believes one win can make all difference

Dundee midfielder Nicky Low believes that one win is all that is needed to help the Dark Blues kick on.

The Dens men were comfortably beaten by Low’s former club Aberdeen on Saturday and now head to Motherwell this weekend having not won since October 3, when they saw off the Steelmen at Dens.

As a result they sit just outside the top six and are just a little bit too close to the group of teams below them, with the exception of city rivals Dundee United in bottom spot.

Asked if success at Fir Park this Saturday can get Dundee off and running again, Low replied: “Yes, I think that’s the case.

“We have had too many draws.

“We have been losing poor goals or been ahead in some games which we should have won but the opposition have scored goals right after we have scored, or scored near the end.

“I think that one win will make all the difference to us.

“Hopefully, we can go to Motherwell and get it.

“It is an important match for both teams.

“If we can take three points then that would really change things for us.

“The confidence is still high because we haven’t been losing many games but winning would help to boost it even more.

“The aim is, over the next few weeks, to get the victories we need in order to start climbing the table.”

Low was denied a stonewall penalty at 1-0 down against the Dons when he was fouled inside the box by defender Andrew Considine but he felt the reason Dundee lost wasn’t a bad decision by referee Bobby Madded.

It was just that Aberdeen played better than they did.

“It was a disappointment for us on Saturday,” said Low.

“I thought Aberdeen came out of the traps really well.

“We were warned about that and knew how good their frontmen Niall McGinn, Jonny Hayes and Adam Rooney can be.

“They have quick players all over the pitch.

“They just got the ball too easily and got their two goals quite quickly.

“We had a mountain to climb after that but we did do a lot better in the second half.”
