A Forfar man has admitted biting a fellow drinker who took umbrage at him asking a barmaid for “cuddles”.
Shane Paterson was in the town’s Plough Inn shortly before midnight on a night out last weekend when he pestered the woman as she was getting ready to clear up.
Depute fiscal John Adams told Forfar Sheriff Court Paterson was advised by others at the bar to leave the woman alone and let her do her job.
The accused then turned to one of the men and said: “What the f*** are you going to do about it?”
The man said he was not going to do anything but then Paterson, without warning, punched out at him over the top of one of his friends.
A struggle took place and the victim managed to put Paterson’s right arm across his chest and get him to the ground, but was bitten on the forearm.
Although he was not hurt and did not want to make a complaint, police were called and Paterson was arrested.
Paterson told officers: “I started fighting because he started fighting.”
Representing himself, Paterson told Sheriff Pino Di Emidio he could remember little about the incident because he had too much to drink.
The sheriff noted two previous assault convictions on the accused’s record and deferred sentence on Paterson, 26, of Lilybank Crescent, Forfar, until January 28 for the preparation of a criminal justice report.
