Teenager girl dies after being struck by car on A9

A teenage girl has died in hospital after being hit by a car on the A9.
Emergency services were called to the scene near the Shandwick Inn at Invergordon, 30 miles north of Inverness, at around 5.30pm.
The girl was taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness with serious injuries and later died, police said.
The road was closed in both directions while officers investigated the scene and they are appealing for any witnesses to the collision to contact them on 101.
The age and name of the girl will not be released until all of her family have been told, a force spokeswoman said.
