Scotland face a 22,500 mile round trip in a month as part of a gruelling four-test summer tour next year.
Scottish Rugby announced this morning their international schedule of 12 games for 2014 that includes a June tour of tests against four nations on three different continents.
After the five matches for the Six Nations in February and March, beginning with Ireland in Dublin on February 2 and featuring the two homes matches against England (February 8) and France (March 8), the first leg of Scotland’s mega-trip takes them to Houston in Texas to play the US Eagles on June 7.
From there they go north to Toronto to take on Canada (June 14) and then fly south to Argentina for a game against the Pumas in a venue still to be finalised on June 21.
A week later they’re in South Africa, again with the venue to be confirmed, to play the Springboks for the third time in just over a year before heading back to Scotland.
Interim head coach Scott Johnson, who will have handed over control of the national team to Vern Cotter for the summer trip, has already indicated that there may be split squads for the tour as the Scots continue to use touring matches to experiment personnel.
In November, the Scots have the usual three Autumn internationals taking on Argentina again (weekend of November 8), the All Blacks return to Murrayfield the following weekend and the schedule is completed by the return of Tonga, who defeated Scotland for the first time last year at Pittodrie.
