Scientific fact: roads will stay clear for T in the Park
ByPaul Reoch
The company behind the traffic management plan for T in the Park insists state-of- the-art scientific analysis will ensure the roads stay clear and safe in Strathearn this summer.
The huge increase in cars and buses on narrow rural roads and the A9 junctions has been one of the most contentious issues surrounding the festival’s move.
SEP Ltd, which has previously worked at Silverstone and the Royal Highland Show, say predictions of “traffic chaos” are wide of the mark.
Speed reductions will be introduced on some roads to help cope with the expected 69,000 vehicles in the weeks surrounding the July event.
The revised plan has now been lodged with Perth and Kinross Council as organisers DF Concerts continue their bid to secure a licence for the festival.
The Courier can also reveal the extent of local support for T in the Park in nearby Auchterarder.
Businesses and residents said they expect a massive financial boost from the music festival.
