A councillor has advised women to “be vigilant” in the wake of a sex attack on a female teenager in Perth.
Douglas Pover, the convener of Perth and Kinross Council’s community safety committee, told The Courier he understands “matters are in hand” regarding the assault.
The attack took place on Sunday on a footpath on the east side of Dunkeld Road, near the Motor Mile, at around midnight.
A police cordon was thrown up in the North Muirton area of the city following the sex attack on the 16-year-old girl.
Councillor Pover advised women to “be vigilant”.
“People should be wary and should be aware of their personal safety,” he said.
“I do understand, though, that matters are in hand regarding the incident.”
A police spokesperson said that inquiries were continuing into the incident.
Anyone with information that could help the investigation should call Police Scotland on 101 or speak to any officer.
