The Rev John D (Jack) Henderson who retired to Blairgowrie has died aged 88.
Originally from Kirkcaldy, he attended Kirkcaldy High, then New College in Edinburgh where he studied for ministry in the Church of Scotland.
His studies were interrupted by being called up for army service just after the war ended in 1945 and he spent his time in the Intelligence Corps and then the Royal Army Education Service.
Ordained on July 12 1953 as assistant minister at Dunfermline Abbey he moved along with his wife Jean to Mastrick in Aberdeen, where he was inducted in August 1954 to the Beechgrove church.
Mr Henderson moved to Buckie North for four years followed by a ministry of eight years in Thornhill, Dumfriesshire.
A ministry of six years in the church of Cupar Old and St Michael of Tarvit brought the family to Fife.
A call back to the Borders took Mr Henderson to Maceration, L/W Smailholm, L/W Stichill, Hume and Nenthorn.
His final charge was back in Aberdeenshire at Cluny L/W Monymusk.
Mr Henderson retired on January 5 1992, moving to Blairgowrie, Perthshire.
He was vice-chairman of the League of Friends of the Cottage Hospital and played piano for the services in the hospital.
Mr Henderson was predeceased by his wife Jean and their daughter Janis.
