Police are searching for a thief who broke into a High Street shop on Christmas Day.
After breaking the door in at VV’s Boutique in Forfar, the man returned to steal a number of vintage clothing items at 1am leaving many higher-value items behind.
The store’s owner hopes a social media campaign sharing CCTV images will help catch the culprit.
Police are also studying camera footage taken on East High Street and are looking for a man in his twenties.
Vikki Jeffrey, who opened the shop in June, said the incident was the latest in a long line of setbacks.
Ms Jeffrey said: “It happened just after one in the morning and the police came and collected me from my house about two o’clock, saying: ‘The door’s lying open at your shop, are you aware of this?’
“The police had been into the shop and said they didn’t see much disturbance, but asked if I’d have a look round before locking the door.
“I really couldn’t notice anything missing.
“When I reopened on Friday, I checked the CCTV and that’s when I noticed someone had been in the shop.
“They’d kicked the door open, then went away without coming in, but came back a few minutes later.
“They took something like six items of the vintage selection and two purses.
“It was a bit strange if someone’s going to break into your shop, you think they are doing it for a reason.
“It wasn’t any of the designer vintage material that I stock, and he could have taken a lot more.
“In hindsight, I think I could have been more unlucky, as the door was lying wide open to the street before the police noticed.”
Ms Jeffrey hopes her young business has seen its last setback, after it was also flooded three times.
“I put all this work into the businesses,” she said. “I’ve had a few setbacks since I opened in June.”
Police ask that anyone with information that could assist inquiries should call them on 101 or speak to any officer.
