Hope Dundee bus drivers dispute could be about to end

The dispute that has forced the cancellation of hundreds of buses in Dundee could be about to end.
Management at National Express say they are hopeful that talks with union officials will allow services to get back to normal.
Drivers have been refusing to work overtime and a staff shortage meant it was not, therefore, possible to run around 400 buses, affecting the Douglas, Whitfield, Charleston and Fintry routes.
The dispute affected 120 services on Tuesday.
A company spokesman said: “It is looking less likely we will experience disruption this Friday or on Monday.
“However, we will monitor the situation and update customers nearer to the time. We are hopeful things will now return to normal.”
According to union official Dougie Maguire, National Express still needs to hire more drivers.
“They’ve been about 10 drivers short for quite a while,” he said.
Drivers stopped signing up to carry out overtime on Mondays and Fridays to protest at “excessive” overtime hours and several sackings and suspensions.
