A 59-year-old man has died after being struck by a train on the Dundee to Perth railway line near Errol.
The incident involving a passenger train happened shortly after 7pm on Thursday evening.
There are no apparent suspicious circumstances but, as with all sudden deaths, a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene and the aftermath of the incident meant train services on the line were disrupted for several hours while investigations were carried out.
Services were running normally again by 10pm.
The fatality is the second to happen on the same line this month.
A man died after being hit by a freight train near Magdalen Green in Dundee’s West End on Monday September 9.
