For the first time since he took over as Brechin manager at Glebe Park at the start of June, Darren Dods will have the luxury of a full squad to choose from against Cowdenbeath today.
It is another welcome boost for the City boss following last week’s long-awaited first win of the season at Peterhead.
Brechin showed a lot of character against Jim McInally’s side, being pegged back twice before Robert Thomson netted their third goal which finally sealed that precious win.
Dods is now looking for his side to kick on again when they play the Blue Brazil who also secured a notable victory last week when they beat league leaders Forfar at Central Park.
However, Dods is determined his players will win for the first time this season in front of the home fans.
He said: “I was delighted for the players and everyone at the club to finally get that win, especially at a really tough place to go to in Peterhead.
“The boys showed tremendous character as we were pegged back twice but never gave up.
“To be fair, the lads did well the week before against Forfar but didn’t get the reward their efforts deserved.
“They had a great attitude against Peterhead once again and this time we got the goals and the win.
“It was also pleasing to have Paul McLean and Dene Shields back and we have another big boost ahead of this weekend’s game against Cowdenbeath with the return of Darren McCormack, Ross Perry and David Weatherston from injury.
“It is the first time this season I have had a full squad to choose from which is a huge boost considering we were struggling to fill our bench against Airdrie just a few weeks ago.
“Cowdenbeath also had a great result last week, beating top-of-the-table Forfar so we know it will be a tough game against them.
“I know their manager Colin Nish fairly well and have played against him a lot with me being a defender and him an attacker.
“I have had a good few battles with him over the years on the pitch.”
