Dundee Stars have been challenged to equal last season’s Elite League points tally tonight when they entertain second-bottom Coventry Blaze. Coach Marc Lefebvre has guided his men to fourth place in the 10-strong league and they now have 31 points from 25 games. Last season the club collected a total of 33 points from 52 games. However, Lefebvre said: “Points now are really important and it would be good to equal last season’s total with half a season to go.” Lefebvre added: “We lost in overtime at Coventry on Saturday despite leading late in the game, and it would be good to beat them here. “They are a quality team with an outstanding goaltender in Brian Stewart, so it will be tough.” Stars altered their schedule to be on the ice yesterday. Normally they do gym work on Tuesday before getting back on the ice on Wednesday. The Canadian coach, who has a full-strength squad to pick from, said: “We’d love to go into Christmas with a win.”
