Police have detained a woman in connection with an alleged attempted murder in Dunfermline.
Officers say a 59-year-old taxi driver suffered serious injuries in the early hours of Sunday in Appin Crescent.
A 46-year-old is being questioned in connection with the incident.
Detective Inspector John Anderson, of Fife Division, who is leading the investigation, said: “During the early hours of today, a 59-year-old male taxi driver was seriously injured in an incident in Appin Crescent, Dunfermline.
“This is being treated as attempted murder. The local community will see a high-visibility Police presence in the area as we conduct this investigation, and we appreciate their patience and cooperation.
“A 46-year-old local woman is currently detained in connection with this enquiry. I would like to take this opportunity to reassure the public that we have no information to suggest there is any threat to the wider community.
“I would also appeal for anyone who has any information about this incident, and in particular anyone who was in the area of Appin Cresent, Dunfermline around midnight and who may have witnessed anything suspicious, or noticed a silver coloured Ford Mondeo taxi, to contact Police Scotland on 101 or through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
