One of the world’s most famous rugby players will be the star guest at a fundraising event in Perthshire next month.
Australian legend David Campese will attend the Bill McLaren Voice of Rugby Dinner at Crieff Hydro Hotel on April 29.
The glamorous black tie event, supported by chartered accountants Campbell Dallas and chemical company Tan International, will also feature former Scotland captains and British and Irish Lions Rob Wainwright and Andy Nicol.
In addition to supporting the Bill McLaren Foundation, Campese’s appearance will also benefit Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA), Perthshire Rugby Football Club and Morrison’s Academy, Crieff.
Foundation chief executive Alan Lawson, a former international and past president of the Scottish Rugby Union, said: “We are delighted that ‘Campo’ has agreed to be one of the guests at the dinner in Crieff. He was Bill’s favourite rugby player, featuring in his all-time XV.”
Mr Lawson continued: “In his heyday, Campo would light up games with his extraordinary change of pace and trademark side-step. He was phenomenal and scored some amazing tries.”
