Raith Rovers boss Ray McKinnon has revealed he pinpointed his side’s home form as being key to a successful start to the season.
The Kirkcaldy side made it five wins out of five at Stark’s Park so far this campaign with a 1-0 win over Queen of the South on Saturday.
McKinnon admitted he is delighted with that sequence of results, especially as his team’s first three Championship fixtures on the road were testing ones.
He said: “When we saw our first three away games were against Falkirk, Hibs and Rangers, we knew our home form had to be good.
“So I am delighted with our unbeaten start at Stark’s Park.
“Including the two League Cup games, we have now won our first five at home which is great.
“To be fair, we also played well at Falkirk and Hibs while there was just that blip against Rangers at Ibrox.
“So I was delighted to get another three points against a good Queen of the South team.”
The victory came courtesy of another Kyle Benedictus goal and the former Dundee centre-half now has three to his name so far this season, making him the top scorer at the club.
Benedictus is carrying on from where he left off in the last campaign when he netted two goals while on loan at Alloa with his first which broke a year-long goal-scoring drought ironically coming against McKinnon’s former club Brechin City in the Championship play-off.
The manager added: “It was good to see big Kyle get on the scoresheet again.
“That’s him top scorer, something he’s quick to point out to the strikers.
“Seriously though, he has good desire to get a goal and he is very determined at setpieces so hopefully, he can continue that scoring run.”
