A prisoner accused of spending six weeks on the run from Castle Huntly appeared in private at Perth Sheriff Court.
James Casey, 51, c/o HMP Castle Huntly, faced a charge that on December 10 last year, while on a temporary release licence from HMP Castle Huntly, he failed to abide by the conditions of said licence by failing to return to the open prison prior to the prescribed times of that licence, and attempted to defeat the ends of justice.
Casey appeared in private before Sheriff William Wood and made no plea or declaration. He was remanded in custody.
