Diesel finds the good life just Champion

A moggy who lost one or two of his lives after he was badly burned when he fell into diesel fuel is now enjoying the good life with an Angus family.

Diesel, as he is now known, was given a new home by Dan and Rosemary Champion, who live with their daughter Lorna in Barry, after they saw his plight featured in The Courier and on Facebook.

The young cat had lost most of his fur and had suffered chemical burns to his skin due to the diesel. He had been handed in by the Scottish SPCA to Parkside Vets in Dundee after he had been found by a member of the public.

Dan said: “I saw him on the Parkside Vets Facebook site and then in The Courier and he looked so pathetic. I just felt sorry for him and I knew we could give him a good home.”

When he first arrived with the Champions in March Diesel was still fur-less and covered in cream for his burns, but he has since blossomed into a fine looking feline. His fur has grown back and he has been accepted into the family by the Champions’ three other cats, Felix, Penfold and Bertie.

Rosemary said: “He’s a lovely cat and he’s settled in beautifully.

“At first we thought he’d eat us out of house and home as he was so skinny and hungry that all he wanted to do was feed, but he’s now very much part of the family.

“He has a lovely playful nature and likes nothing better than a bit of attention.”

And Diesel has found himself in puss paradise at Dalmore, the smallholding run by the Champions in Station Road, Barry, which has plenty of land and outbuildings to explore as well as an interesting selection of livestock.

The good life indeed.
