Teenagers sought after pensioner punched in Edinburgh
ByThe Courier Reporter
Police are hunting two teenage girls involved in an assault on a 65-year-old woman as she was walking her dog.
The woman was walking in Murrayburn Place, Edinburgh, at about 4.25pm on Tuesday when two girls approached her, with one of them punching her in the face.
They then ran off and the victim phoned police. She did not require hospital treatment but was left with a “painful injury”, officers said.
The girls are white, in their late teens, and around 5ft with slim builds. One had dyed red hair and the other had dark hair and was wearing a pink long-sleeved top.
It is unclear which of the girls carried out the attack.
Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact them.
Inspector Stevie Dolan said: “This was an entirely unprovoked assault that left an elderly woman with a painful injury to her face.
“Anyone who was in or around Murrayburn Place on Tuesday afternoon and remembers seeing anything suspicious, or who has information relevant to this investigation, is asked to contact police immediately.
“Similarly, anyone who recognises the description of these females is also asked to come forward.”
