A 15-year-old boy was in critical condition after being struck by a car on a rural road in Kinross-shire.
The pedestrian collided with a dark coloured Volvo at 6.44pm on Wednesday on the A977 near Crossroads Cottage, Balado, with the road being closed for several hours to allow police investigations.
It’s understood the youth had got off a bus on the road and then was struck by the passing car. He was taken by ambulance to Royal Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy, where his condition was last night described as “critical.”
A spokesperson for Police Scotland Tayside Division said: “A 15-year-old is in the Royal Victoria Hospital after he was struck by a vehicle at 6.44pm on the A977 at Balado.
“He was seriously injured by a passing vehicle when attempting to cross the road. He was taken by ambulance to Royal Victoria Hospital where his condition is critical but stable.”
“The road was closed to allow police investigations to take place,” added the spokesperson.
A bystander said the youth had got off the bus and was injured by the car as he tried to cross the road. Anyone who may have seen the accident should contact police on 101 or phone Crimestoppers on 0800 555 1111.
