Aberdeen Coastguard was alerted to the incident just after 3am when the emergency beacon on the Stornoway-registered Prevail was activated. A helicopter from RAF Lossiemouth was scrambled and was able to confirm the vessel was taking on water and had communication problems. Montrose lifeboat was also called out and the boat is now being towed to Montrose harbour. All four crew have remained on board. A spokesman for Aberdeen Coastguard said the boat is expected to arrive in the harbour this afternoon.
