The 50th osprey chick to hatch at Loch of the Lowes has taken her maiden flight.
Blue YZ is the daughter of the oldest breeding female osprey, known as Lady, thought to be aged 28. She gave birth to Blue YZ in June.
Perthshire Ranger Emma Rawling, of the Scottish Wildlife Trust, which runs the reserve at Dunkeld, said: “Blue YZ has fledged that is, she has taken her maiden flight from the nest.
“She took off at 10:08 yesterday, heading towards her mother, who was sitting waiting on the ‘Boingy branch’ to the east of the nest.
“She flew strongly and confidently, which is great.
“She is now sitting somewhere in the lochside trees, watched by her mother who is still on the same branch, looking unperturbed.”
