A 33-year-old man who tied up and assaulted a woman he had abducted will be sentenced next month.
A jury found John Lindsay guilty by a majority verdict after a four-day trial of assaulting, abducting and detaining the woman against her will at locations in Dundee in March this year.
The court was told Lindsay had a “lengthy record” stretching back to 1999.
He was found guilty of butting the woman, placing her in a headlock, compelling her to go upstairs to a bedroom, binding her wrists and ankles with tape, covering her mouth with tape, uttering threats toward her and abducting her, all to her injury.
Lindsay, a prisoner at Perth, was also found guilty of preventing the woman from leaving a house and detaining her against her will.
Kevin Hampton, defending, said: “He is realistic and knows that being found guilty of this will result in a custodial sentence.”
Sheriff George Way deferred sentence until August 21 and remanded Lindsay in custody.
