Arbroath teen admits string of offences at homeless unit

An Arbroath teenager admitted a string of offences at the North Grimsby Homeless Unit at the town’s sheriff court.

Stephen Malcolm Gibb, 17, of North Grimsby, admitted that on Sunday he behaved in a threatening manner by kicking a door and shouting and threatening fellow residents with violence.

He also threatened violence towards two members of staff by walking towards them with a key protruding from a clenched fist while making slashing motions. Gibb also brandished a table leg at an employee.

Defence agent Billy Rennie said: “He has resided at North Grimsby Homeless Unit since November and has been provided with a significant amount of support.

“Notwithstanding this incident, North Grimsby are welcoming Mr Gibb back.

“It has been suggested that he undertake alcohol counselling,” he added.

Sheriff Peter Paterson deferred sentence until August 27 for social work reports. Gibb was granted bail with a curfew from 7pm to 7am.
