A young Perthshire man has been fined more than £1,000 for a series of driving offences.
Connor Gray, 20, of Hill Street, Coupar Angus, appeared at Perth Sheriff Court where he admitted that on July 7, in Commercial Street and Mill Street, both Alyth, he took away and drove a car without consent and only held a provisional licence.
He also pleaded guilty to a charge that on the same date and places he drove with excess alcohol 91 mics drove without due care and attention by colliding with a lamp-post and a wall, and also drove without insurance.
Depute fiscal Robbie Brown said that Gray and the complainer had been drinking together, but the latter had gone to bed.
The court heard that he then heard a car being driven away around 3.30am.
“The car was driven into a nearby wall at 3.50am,” Mr Brown said.
“Police later found the accused and a reading showed an alcohol level of 91 mics.”
Solicitor Alison McKay said that her client was “very embarrassed” by his behaviour.
“It is a high reading,” she added.
Sheriff William Wood described the incidents as “unbelievable” and fined Gray a total of £1,320. The sheriff also banned him from driving for two- and-a-half years.
