Yawns were stifled as a US town marked its first Boring and Dull day on Friday.
Earlier this year, law-makers in Oregon agreed to designate August 9 an official state holiday so locals could celebrate their link with the Highland Perthshire village.
Although residents of Boring went about their business as usual, they marked the occasion with an evening ice cream social featuring a pipe band and a barbershop quartet.
Steven Bates, chairman of the Boring Community Planning Organisation, said: “On behalf of Boring and Dull, I am grateful to Clackamas County for entertaining this proclamation.
“Boring and Dull day should definitely encourage tourism and excitement for the communities.”
A sign in Dull marking its association with Boring has become hotspot for visitors.
Clackamas County commissioners have said they intend to have a Boring sign produced, with hopes it can be unveiled during their annual community celebration in the autumn.
Dull resident Emma Burtles said: “This has really brought the community together.
“We have received lots of nice emails and, already, a few Boring visitors.”
