The novelty of Glenrothes’ new leisure centre shows no sign of wearing off after operators reported a further increase in visitor numbers.
The Michael Woods Centre had 12,378 customers pass through its doors in its second full week of opening an increase of just under 3,000 on its opening week.
The £21 million facility has received widespread praise from customers, although a few teething problems had been reported regarding a leaking roof.
Youngsters in particular have been making good use of the centre during the school holidays, with incentives to get children swimming proving popular.
Scott Urquhart, area leisure manager for Fife Sports and Leisure Trust, said: “The increase in customers over the second week of opening is fantastic, particularly as this the first week we’ve offered a full programme of activities and classes.
“Customer response continues to be positive to both the quality of facilities and choice of activities. It’s great to see so many people of all ages and abilities coming in to the centre.”
