Work to regenerate Leven will begin in earnest this week.
Members of the public, community groups, landowners and agencies have been invited to a series of meetings between Wednesday and Friday to discuss the way forward for the area surrounding the Bawbee Brig.
The process, known as a charette, will begin with a public workshop at Parkhill Primary School, from 7pm on Wednesday, when people can put forward ideas.
This will be followed by a further four meetings in the Caledonian Hotel on Thursday and Friday involving the design team from Planning Aid for Scotland and Fife Council.
Between 11am and 1pm on Thursday, they will be specifically looking at the area surrounding the River Leven, its banks, paths, the water and the old railway line.
From 2-4pm the same day, the team will discuss improving connections between the Bawbee Brig and the town centre and Promenade for walking, cycling and driving.
Also on Thursday, from 3-5pm, discussions will focus on improving connections to Methil, including the power station site, Bayview Stadium and up the hill to Kinnarchie Crescent.
On Friday, from 3-5pm, the meeting will decide which projects are most important and who will do what to make them happen.
This discussion is particularly for anyone who has a project they would like taken forward, or for landowners. The process will finish with a drop-in exhibition on Saturday, from 1-4pm, in Parkhill Primary.
Workshops have already been held at schools to give young people the chance to express their vision for the area. Planners visited Park-hill, Mountfleurie and St Agatha’s primaries, and Buckhaven High School last week.
It is hoped as many people as possible will take part in this week’s sessions. The aim is to draw up a “shopping list” of ideas to have plans in place for whenever funding becomes available.
