Perth was the setting for the final of the UK Tug of War Championships at the weekend.
Teams from across the country travelled to the city to take part in the sport, which sees groups of eight bid to be the first to pull the other over the line.
In the international event the heavyweight category was won by Scotland with England’s B team in second place and the Welsh A team in third place.
In the lightweight division Northern Ireland romped to victory followed by England’s A and B teams in second and third respectively.
Many of the competitors took to the field again on Sunday for an open competition, which ran as part of Perth Highland games.
In the 560 category English team Oxney finished behind Scots Kinneff, while in the 560 mixed group Holland Tug of War Club from England triumphed over Scottish team Cornhill.Click here for a full photo galleryIn the next weight division, 640, Oxney took the title ahead of fellow English team Felton and in the heaviest grouping, 680, Holland Tug of War Club beat Cornhill.
Thousands of visitors from across the globe, including from Germany, France and Canada, turned out at the games to watch strongmen take on the challenges of hammer throw and caber tossing.
Organiser Andrew Rettie said two ground records had been broken at the event. Scott Rider, form Dartford in Kent, triumphed in both the 22-pound ball and the 28-pound weight for distance.
There were also competitive foot races and cycle races to keep crowds entertained. Highland dancers took to the stage to perform dances such as the Flora and Seann Triubhas.
