St Andrews University students’ Race2Munich raises thousands for charity

A band of adventurous St Andrews students have hitch-hiked their way to Germany, raising an estimated £10,000 for the university’s Charities Campaign.
Some 48 university teams competed in Race2Munich, an annual race which has a different country as its destination each year.
Crossing the finish line first were third years Cormac Friel and Colleen Wilson, whose Spiderman and Superwoman outfits helped them get from Stirling to Munich in just 28 hours and 30 minutes.
The pair, who have returned the iPods they won to the Charities Campaign for raffle or auction, managed to blag about 10 different rides.
The last team arrived at the Meininger Hostel 87 hours and 30 minutes after being dropped off at their mystery starting point in Scotland, as the rest of the teams were already partying.
