There could well changes at both ends of the pitch for League Two leaders Arbroath at Albion Rovers today, as the Red Lichties look to bounce back from a rare defeat.
Dundee United goalkeeper Marc McCallum has been brought in on loan and looks set to start at Cliftonhill as both David and Scott Morrison are out injured, with manager Allan Moore also planning to shake up his attack.
Moore has been growing frustrated over recent weeks with his front men of Simon Murray and Paul McManus for their lack of a ruthless streak, and Kevin Buchan may be given the opportunity to show that he is the man to get the goals for the Red Lichties.
The Gayfield boss explained: “We had been winning games but I was telling people that I was not happy as we were missing more than half the chances we were creating. “People said I was over reacting and it was good because we were making chances and winning however I knew it would come back to hurt us.
“That is what happened against Queen’s Park last weekend. I have no complaints about how we played but the reason we lost 2-1 is that we missed chances. Kevin has been patiently waiting his chance and I am very tempted to stick him in against Albion Rovers.
“If he goes in and shows that he can convert chances at a good rate then he will stay in. He deserves an opportunity and this could be the game to give him it in.”
Kevin Nicol has shaken off a knock, however Dylan Carreiro will miss out as he is on international duty.
Moore pointed out that he may not have started at Cliftonhill anyway.
He noted: “Albion Rovers will be targeting a win and see this as an opportunity to get closer to us after our defeat last week. Their pitch may not have suited Dylan in any case as it will be very heavy after a lot of rain and that may not have suited him anyway.”
