Santa Paws made an early visit to Perthshire’s homeless dogs this week.
Staff at the Perthshire Abandoned Dogs Society (PADS) were delighted and mystified when several unlabelled sacks of goodies were left at their door.
Inside were food, gifts and toys for their resident hounds as well as snoods and gloves to keep the staff warm.
PADS manager Louise Perrett is now appealing for the mystery donor to come forward to be thanked in person.
She said: “We went home for lunch on Sunday and when we came back there was a whole pile of food, goodies for the dogs and biscuits and sweeties for us, which was a lovely surprise.
“A lot of it was older dogs’ bedding, which has now been distributed to the dogs in our care. There were blankets, which some of our older dogs will really appreciate now the weather is getting colder.
“They also left the staff a snood and a pair of gloves each, which was very welcome.
“However there was no card usually when somebody leaves something at this time of year, they have a Christmas card as well so we were unable to send a thank you.
“It’s been a nice early Christmas present it was lovely to receive all of this but it would be nice to know who they were from so we could thank them properly.
“We’d like them to come forward so we can say thank you in person.”
Many of the dogs will stay with PADS over Christmas.
She said: “We’ve had an awful lot of requests from people wanting dogs for Christmas for their children, which isn’t a good idea, so our cut-off point is the end of this week for rehoming.”
PADS was set up in 1985 and replaced the Perth pound. It now takes in strays from across Perth and Kinross and currently has 15 dogs in its care.
