East Fife have issued a rallying call to fans ahead of this weekend’s all-important Fife derby at home to Dunfermline Athletic.
The Methil club are hopeful of attracting a bumper crowd for the visit of the Pars, but while ticket sales for the away end are said to have been steady, the same can’t quite be said for the home support with plenty of briefs still thought to be available.
However, chairman Lee Murray has urged supporters to snap up their tickets early and ensure a great atmosphere for the third Fife derby between the teams this season.
The Pars won the first encounter on the opening day of the season at Bayview thanks to Ryan Wallace’s early penalty, although East Fife secured bragging rights in the reverse fixture at East End with a 2-1 success.
Manager Gary Naysmith insists the Fifers’ 2-1 win over Forfar at the weekend means they can go into Saturday’s clash with confidence.
“It’s going to be a difficult game, but it’s going to be one we should be looking forward to now,” he said.
The new terracing, set up primarily for the visits of Rangers this term, will again be open for this Saturday’s fixture and should ensure a larger crowd than the near-2,000 who watched the derby on the opening day.
Stand tickets are available at £15 for adults, £10 for over-60s and £5 for children, while terracing tickets are available at £13 for adults, £10 for over-60s and £5 for children.
East Fife fans have been reminded season ticket holders must pick up their seating tickets from the club this week to avoid long queues on Saturday.
Meanwhile, East Fife’s home fixture against Rangers on Saturday March 1 will be shown live on BT Sport. The game’s kick-off time has been brought forward to 12.45pm.
