The Rowan Norway oil rig set off from Dundee around 6am on its way to a North Sea oil field. The platform, which can operate in depths of up to 400ft, had been at the city docks for five months as she prepares to enter service. The rig had been due to leave on Sunday but this was postponed due to unsuitable weather. The rig will become home to 120 offshore workers when it arrives at the Bentley oil field, 99 miles east of Lerwick.
