A woman who is due to stand trial on charges relating to an aleged £38,000 extortion plot has been banned from entering Kirkcaldy.
The charges against Katrina Soutar, 28, whose address was given as Perth Prison, allege that on various dates between December 28 2012 and March 11 2013, both dates inclusive, at Lawson Gardens, Roslyn Street and High Street, all in Kirkcaldy, she threatened and intimidated a man into handing over £37,800 against his will by using threats, menacing him and placing him in a state of alarm, apprehension of physical injury and persecution.
Soutar was appearing before Sheriff Charles Macnair at Cupar Sheriff Court on Thursday.
She denies this charge as well as a second charge that alleges she later tried to make contact with the man she is alleged to have extorted money out of by entering Lawson Gardens in Kirkcaldy, thereby breaking the conditions of a court order preventing her from doing so.
Sheriff Macnair set a trial date for September 16, with an intermediate diet on September 5.
The sheriff released Soutar on bail with special conditions that she must not enter Kirkcaldy and must report to Glenrothes Police Station every Friday until the trial.
