News that the future of a Coupar Angus poultry processing plant has been secured should have positive repercussions for more than just the 1,000-strong workforce, according to MSP Murdo Fraser.
“I know that many people from East Perthshire work at this particular plant and, therefore, it’s especially pleasing to see industry and jobs preserved,” said Mr Fraser, MSP for Mid Scotland and Fife.
“This takeover not only sustains the jobs of those directly employed at the plant, but also maintains revenue for farmers in the corresponding supply chain.
“The stability and peace of mind brought by this move can only be good news for the local area and I will continue to work with the Scottish Government to ensure that the Highland Perthshire meat processing industry is given the correct support.”
