Former US President Bill Clinton today hailed the Old Course at St Andrews as “fantastic” as he enjoyed a round of golf over the famous old links.
President Clinton is visiting Scotland with the Clinton Foundation, and was playing ahead of speaking at the Scottish Business Awards on Friday evening.
His surprise visit left onlookers and visiting golfers startled as he arrived on the first tee unannounced and with no great fanfare.
He said: “It’s always a fantastic and memorable experience to visit the Home of Golf. It’s a real pleasure for me to get to come to the Old Course and enjoy it on a day like today.
“The course was in great condition and the weather was very kind to us.”Photo gallery:Bill Clinton given warm welcome in St AndrewsMr Clinton, who happily posed for photographs with the public, added: “As I find every time I visit this part of the world I have been fortunate to receive a very warm welcome and enjoyed the hospitality for which you are so famous.
