Dundee FC boss John Brown has been banned from driving again after he admitted speeding through a red light last year.
Glasgow’s Justice of the Peace Court heard the Dundee FC manager, nicknamed ‘Bomber’, was going too fast to stop at the traffic lights on Glasgow’s Polmadie Road last summer.
The offence earned him three penalty points resulting in an inevitable driving ban as he already had nine points for a string of previous road offences. He has now been banned for six months and fined £250.
JP Dennis Barr told 51-year-old Brown he had to consider the public interest and said: “What concerns me the most about your driving history is the fact that this is the fourth offence within a relatively short period, a total of 16 months.”
Brown’s lawyer, Ronnie Simpson, said the Dundee manager travels to the city on a daily basis and is due to resume work after the break in the football season.
Brown was previously banned from driving for 15 months for drink-driving in 1996, after being found almost twice over the legal limit.
