Arbroath boss Paul Sheerin eyes swoop for Johnny Lindsay
ByThe Courier Reporter
Arbroath player-boss Paul Sheerin is set to move into the transfer market to capture Johnny Lindsay who was a youth player for the Red Lichties boss when he coached at St Johnstone.
The left back, who left Perth in 2011, is expected to complete a move to Gayfield this week after a season with English Conference side Stalybridge Celtic.
The 20-year-old spent the previous year with Partick Thistle, which included a loan period at Brechin City. Arbroath have moved for Lindsay as Colin Hamilton has gone on trial with Notts County after an impressive first season in maroon.
The pre-season friendly derby between Montrose and Arbroath on Saturday, July 13 has been called off after the clubs could not agree on entry prices.
Arbroath are believed to be heading for the round-robin Oban Tournament which will see them play against Albion Rovers, Dundee United and Oban Saints as well as the under-20 sides from St Johnstone and Hamilton Accies.
